Creators of Oscar-winning short filming Ghost Recon project
Did you know that Logorama took home an Oscar for best animated short? We actually featured Logorama on the site, as it included a few nods to game industry developers/publishers.
Now the creators of Logorama, Francois Alaux and Herve de Crecy, have signed on to put together a 20 minute short for the Ghost Recon series, which will promote Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. This particular short is going to serve as a prequel to the game, and it’s costing Ubisoft upwards of $10 million. I guess Oscar winners don’t come cheap!

EA looking to make Madden 11 a faster experience
Here’s a bit of a shocking statistic for you. The average game of Madden 10 takes up about 63 minutes of real-time. Do you know how much of that time players actually spend playing football? A mere 17 minutes of that total play time. That means for 46 minutes, you’re setting up plays and running your way through various menus. EA clearly sees that this is an issue, which is why they’re pledging to make Madden 11 a much more streamlined experience. Expect solutions for skipping through information, an easier way to skim through the playbook, and much more.

Hudson discusses their scary approach with Calling
`What makes people scared and how we can increase the scary feeling within them were very important to us. Of course, fears that stem from threat or attack are important but we want to put more thought into creating a scary atmosphere from psychological fear or pressures such that players will feel fear just see something there or the thought that something might happen. We researched the various Japanese horror materials already on the market. We didn`t want to go too crazy. We tried to incorporate the abnormal events of the game with a sense of balance. From this perspective, we made each character`s personality and abilities that of... [Read More]

Arc Rise Fantasia - no Japanese language track for NA release
Coming from an IGN preview…
While the game is mostly 3D, much of the exposition is delivered by 2D talking heads. The version we played contained the original Japanese language voice track but it is currently being localized for English. Unfortunately for you otakus out there, the Japanese voice track won’t be included as an option in the English release.
I know this kind of thing can really hurt an RPG. Fans of the genre usually prefer to... [Read More]

Wii, meet the JRPG
Would you say that the Wii is the number one platform to get your RPG fix on? I think that honor would have to go to the DS. I wouldn’t even take the Wii as the next platform for great JRPG support…until this year. Both Xenoblade and The Last Story are going to be pretty big deals for the RPG fan. I think both games are going to be hard for RPG’ers to pass up. Let’s hope they’re both worth the wait!
